Eliminate sweet treats, desserts, and junk food item from your diet. Cut out potato chips, cookies, candy bars, pastries, cakes and anything remotely similar to these snacks. They provide no nutritional value and only help pack on the poundage. Not a good thing at any time — and if you want to lose weight, you’ve got to drop this unhealthy snack habit right away.
If you regularly consume sugary soft drinks, make a change in favor of water. Like all habits, this one might be hard to break, especially if you haven’t grown to enjoy a fresh glass of water as your beverage of choice.
If you’ve got a juicer or blender in your kitchen, it’s time to put those wonderful machines to use. Fresh fruit and vegetable juices give you nutritious refreshment that fills you up. Healthy smoothies make a great snack at any time of year and they help prevent you from reaching for chips, or a candy bar mid-day, when those hunger pains set in.
Buy extra vegetables like celery, broccoli and carrots, and prepare these into ready to eat, bite-size pieces. Keep them in the refrigerator for a quick and healthy snack — whenever you get hungry. But please avoid the dip — that’s where all the fat is.
When cooking, look for opportunities to replace butter or margarine in recipes, in favor of olive oil. In most cases, it’s an easy adjustment that’s healthier for you.
Follow these simple steps and you’ll be doing yourself and your waistline a world of good.
